SKINNY bitch pt 2

I finished Skinny Bitchyesterday. It is a decent book. Very straight forward and to the point. No nonsense. Which is what a lot of people need. This book is definitely not for teenage girls, though. The book actually endorses fasting for up to 10 days. Which, in my opinion, is not healthy at all for anybody under the age of 25.
One of my favorite parts of the book is when it tells you to, “trust nobody,” which is also a personal motto for me. It made me realize, though, that the USDA, which was created to help American farmers, really doesn’t help regular Americans. The book states, “According to its website, now, among other things, the USDA is responsible for ‘the safety of meat, poultry, and egg products.’ Hmm that’s weird. ‘Cause many high-ranking staff members at the USDA were employed by, or are otherwise affiliated with, the meat and dairy industry.” The book cited http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0102-06.htm which is a write up by a modern day Upton Sinclair, Eric Schlosser. Schlosser is basically a whistle blower on the meat industry and wrote, along with other books, Fast Food Nation,A book about the fast food industry, meat industry, and other things. Long story short, both books try to get the point across that nobody is looking out for you. And the USDA is letting you eat shit because they are paid off.   Whether you believe this guy or not, everyone should really be educated about what they are putting into their bodies. All anyone cares about is the All Mighty Dollar. Red tape and whatnot….makes me sick.

SKINNY bitch

Classes have ended and the school year is winding down for all the high schoolers. I am currently reading “skinny bitch” which is a decent book. It has some flaws, though. First of all it talks about milk and how milk is very bad for you. Well, I found this to be a weird comment and looked up the source. (The cool thing about the book is that all of their information is cited.) Anyways, I looked up the source and their information comes from a website called “milksucks.com” or something like that, and I looked more into the website and it is a PETA website…SO I guess it is safe to say that the book is slightly biased. These women are NOT doctors and they are just getting information from lots of sources. Don’t believe everything you read. Question everything.
For the most part the truth is, you WILL become a skinny bitch if you do all that this book tells you. Give up meat, yogurt, milk, sugar, soda, processed foods, cheese, etc. So you are left with fruits, vegetables, lumens, nuts, seeds. AND i’m trying it. I’m trying giving up meat, and dairy (for the most part) and it’s not too too hard. The hard part is trying to eat mostly organic things….no processed food. I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago. 148…which is the most i’ve ever weighed. And on Friday I weighed myself at 145, now…143. Which is what I weighed my entire high school career. So we’ll see if I can break it!!! I’ll let you know how that goes!
